SAVINGS ACCOUNTS AT THE PEOPLES BANK
The Peoples Bank, your local community bank for Knox County, offers two types of savings accounts. Another alternative for customers, who maintain sizeable balances and require liquidity, are our SuperNow accounts that have features of both traditional checking and savings accounts.
Peoples Savings Accounts
Standard passbook savings account. $25 is the minimal required deposit to open this account. So long as this minimal balance is maintained, interest will be credited according to the current passbook rate. ATM cards are available. Statements are provided either quarterly or monthly depending upon the amount of account activity. No service charge if three or fewer withdrawals are made during your monthly statement cycle. Additional withdrawals will incur a $1.00 fee.
Peoples Christmas Club
Remember how Mom and Dad used to put a little aside each week, so that gift giving was not a budget breaker during the holiday season? Your Peoples Christmas Club will do the same for you. If you would like, we can arrange for a series of periodic, automated transfers from your Peoples Bank checking account to fund your Christmas Club. Earned interest will help your funds grow as the Holiday season approaches. Due to the nature of this account, withdrawals are not permitted. The balance of your account is disbursed to you in October. A new Christmas Club account for the following year can then be set up to start when you would like.
